THROUGH TRUTH COMES FREEDOM AND PEACE

Empire of the Robots

Fidel Castro Ruz, August 19, 2009

Recently I discussed the U.S. plans to impose the absolute superiority of its air force as an instrument of domination over the world. It mentioned the project in 2020 with over a thousand bombers and F-22 and F-35 next generation in its fleet of 2500 military aircraft. In 20 years, all of its fighter planes will be operated by automatic.

Military budgets have always supported by the vast majority of U.S. legislators. There are hardly any individual states in the U.S. where employment is not dependent in part on the defense industry.

Worldwide and consistently, military expenditures have doubled in the last 10 years as if there was any danger of crisis. The Military Industrial Complex is now the most prosperous industry in the world.

In 2008, about 1.5 trillion dollars are invested in and dedicated to the defense budget. 42% of global spending in this area, 607 billion, corresponding to U.S., not including war costs, while the number of hungry in the world amounts to 1000 million.

A Western news release two days ago reported that in mid-August the U.S. military showed a drone helicopter and robots able to perform work of soldiers, 2500 of which have been sent to combat zones.

A Robot marketing firm said new technology would revolutionize the way of commanding the war. It has been reported that in 2003 the U.S. had just robots in its arsenal and "now has-according to the AFP-road vehicles with 10 000 and 7 000 aerial devices, from the small Raven, which can be launched by hand , to the giant Global Hawk spy plane 13 meters long and 35 major capable of flying at high altitude for 35 hours.

While these mammoth kill technologies occur costs in the United States, the President of the country sweats bullets to bring health services to 50 million Americans who lack them. Such is the confusion that the new president declared, "we’re closer than ever to achieving the health system reform but the fight is becoming fierce."

"History is clear," he added whenever we have health reform on the horizon, special interests are fighting with everything they have on hand, use their influence, they launched their advertising campaigns and his political allies used to scare the American people.

The fact is that in Los Angeles 8 000 people, most unemployed, according to the press gathered in a stadium for the attention of a free clinic that provides roaming services in the Third World. The crowd had stayed there. Some come from hundreds of miles away.

"What do I care if it's socialist or not?

We are the only country (USA) in the world where the most vulnerable do not have anything," said a woman in a black neighborhood.

It is reported that "a blood test can cost $500 USD and a routine dental treatment more than 1000 USD."

What hope can a society like that offer the world?

The lobbyists in Congress or making a killing working against a simple law that aims to provide medical care to tens of millions of poor people, blacks and Latinos the overwhelming majority who do not have health care. While a blockaded country like Cuba has been able to provide free medical care and even cooperate with dozens of Third World countries too.

If robots in the hands of the Military Industrial Complex can replace soldiers in wars of imperial conquest, who will stop the multinationals in finding market for their products?

The world is flooded with cars now competing with men for the consumption of nonrenewable energy and even food converted to fuel. Next it will be robots that displace millions of workers / soldiers their jobs.

Better yet, scientists could also design robots capable of governing, so you save that horrible, conflicting and confusing work of the government and U.S. Congress.

No doubt they would be better and cheaper.
